§1ACCEPTANCE & ELIGIBILITY
By accessing worldslongestreceipt.com ("the Site") or purchasing a line item ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy (/privacy), and our Content Guidelines (/guidelines). Together, these documents form the entire agreement between you and [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME], doing business as The World's Longest Receipt ("we," "us," "our").
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site or purchase a line.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service or make a purchase.

You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.

§2THE SERVICE
The World's Longest Receipt is a digital product where anyone can purchase a permanent line item on a public, endlessly scrolling receipt at worldslongestreceipt.com.
WHAT YOU GET:
A permanent entry on the public receipt with your custom text
Your uploaded image as a thumbnail (image tier only)
A line number assigned at time of payment
A shareable image card featuring your line, hosted publicly on our servers and freely distributable across social platforms, press, and other media
The knowledge that 10% of your purchase funds a meal (see §7)
WHAT YOU DON'T GET:
Ownership of the line number, the receipt, or any part of the Site or Service
The right to edit, transfer, sell, or remove your line after publication
Any intellectual property rights in the Site, its design, or its codebase
A guarantee of specific line number placement or perpetual display (see §11)

Prices may change at our discretion. Changes apply to future purchases only. The current price is always displayed at checkout and is the binding price for your transaction.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or handle your payment card information. By completing a purchase, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service (stripe.com/legal).
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Your line is a digital product delivered immediately upon payment. No refunds, returns, or exchanges — with two exceptions: (1) if your content is rejected by moderation, you receive an automatic full refund to your original payment method within 5–10 business days; or (2) if a technical error on our end prevents your line from being delivered at all.
For EU/EEA/UK consumers: By completing your purchase, you expressly consent to the immediate delivery of digital content and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU), as the digital content is fully delivered upon payment. This consent is confirmed during checkout.
Line numbers are assigned sequentially when payment completes (not when checkout begins). We do not guarantee a specific line number. Reserved milestone numbers are excluded from sequential assignment (see §8).

§4YOUR CONTENT
WHAT YOU SUBMIT:
Your line text (quantity label, item name, display price), optional display name, and optional image. Collectively: "User Content."
LICENSE YOU GRANT US:
By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, modify, adapt, and create derivative works of your User Content for the following purposes:
Displaying your line on the receipt
Generating and distributing share card images featuring your line
Using your line in marketing, promotional, and press materials for the Service
Displaying your line in social media posts, advertisements, or media coverage related to the Service
Technical operations including formatting, resizing, cropping, and compression
This license survives any termination of your relationship with the Service and cannot be revoked. You retain ownership of your original User Content, but you cannot retract the license granted above.
Your representations: By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are the original creator or have all necessary rights and permissions to submit the content; (b) your content does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party; and (c) you have the authority to grant the license described above.
OUR RIGHT TO MODERATE:
All User Content is subject to moderation — both automated (via OpenAI Moderation API and AWS Rekognition) and manual (human review). We can, at our sole discretion:
Reject any submission that violates our Content Guidelines (/guidelines)
Hold submissions for manual review before publishing
Auto-format your content (uppercasing text, cropping images to a square)
Remove any previously approved line if we later determine it violates our Content Guidelines or these Terms, or if required by law
If your content is rejected pre-publication: You receive a full refund. You may contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] to request a manual review of the decision.
If your content is removed post-publication: No refund is issued. Your line was delivered as purchased; removal is a consequence of a content violation, legal requirement, or our exercise of editorial discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email if your line is removed, with the reason for removal.

§5CONTENT RULES
Don't submit content that:
Contains hate speech, slurs, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin
Threatens, harasses, or bullies any individual or group
Is sexually explicit, pornographic, or contains nudity
Promotes violence, self-harm, or dangerous activities
Shares personal information about others without their consent (doxxing)
Infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
Promotes illegal activities in any jurisdiction
Contains spam, advertisements, URLs, or commercial solicitations
Impersonates any person, entity, or organization
Contains malware, phishing attempts, or malicious code references

§6INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Our property: The Site, its design, source code, receipt format, branding, logos, and all original content created by us are our intellectual property (or that of our licensors) and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Site without our written permission.
Your property: You retain ownership of your original User Content. However, you cannot revoke the license granted in §4. For images, you must be the rights holder or have appropriate permissions for any images you upload.
DMCA COPYRIGHT NOTICES:
If you believe User Content on the Site infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to our designated agent:

§7DONATIONS
We commit to donating 10% of gross revenue from line purchases to hunger-relief organizations. Details, receipts, and running totals are published on our /transparency page.
Important — please read carefully: This donation commitment is a voluntary, unilateral pledge made by us. It is nota contractual obligation to buyers and does not create any enforceable right. The following are at our sole discretion: the cause partner or organization, the timing and frequency of donations, the method of donation, and the definition of "gross revenue" for calculation purposes. There is no guaranteed minimum donation — the donation equals exactly 10% of actual gross revenue. If the site generates no revenue in a given period, no donation is made for that period. The statement "1 line = 1 meal" is an approximation based on current per-meal costs at hunger-relief organizations and is not a guarantee. We are not a nonprofit, charitable organization, or tax-exempt entity. Your purchase is not tax-deductible. If our current cause partner is unable to accept donations, we will direct funds to an alternative hunger-relief organization and update the transparency page accordingly.

§8MILESTONE AUCTIONS
Certain milestone line numbers (#1, #420, #1,337, #10,000, #69,420, #100,000, #1,000,000) are reserved and sold via auction on third-party platforms (e.g., eBay).
AUCTION TERMS:
Auctions are conducted on and governed by the third-party platform's terms (e.g., eBay Buyer Protection). These Terms apply to the submitted content once delivered to the receipt.
The auction winner receives a single line entry at the milestone number, with the same features as any other line (text, optional image, share card).
All submitted content is subject to our Content Guidelines. If the winner's submission is rejected by moderation, they may resubmit until approved — the purchase is for the placement, not the right to bypass moderation.
Winners must submit their content within 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, we may fill the line at our discretion.
Auction proceeds are subject to the same 10% donation pledge described in §7.

§9PROHIBITED CONDUCT
In addition to the content rules in §5, you agree not to:
Use stolen, unauthorized, or fraudulent payment methods
Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to purchase lines or interact with the Site
Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to compromise the Site's operation, security, or infrastructure
Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Site
Circumvent, disable, or interfere with content moderation systems
Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Site for commercial purposes without written permission
Use the Site for any activity that violates applicable local, state, national, or international law
Create multiple accounts or purchases to manipulate line placement, pricing tiers, or moderation

§10DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT YOUR LINE WILL BE DISPLAYED PERMANENTLY (THOUGH WE INTEND IT TO BE — SEE §16), THAT SHARE CARDS WILL ALWAYS BE ACCESSIBLE, OR THAT DONATIONS WILL REACH ANY SPECIFIC TARGET.
For EU/EEA/UK consumers: Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable consumer protection law, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive and the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. Statutory warranties and rights that apply in your jurisdiction are not affected by this section.

§11LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

For EU/EEA/UK consumers: This limitation does not apply to liability arising from our willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

§12INDEMNIFICATION

This indemnification obligation is limited to direct damages and shall not exceed $5,000 USD or the total amount you have paid for the Service, whichever is greater. This limitation does not apply to claims arising from intentional misconduct or willful infringement.
For EU/EEA/UK consumers: This indemnification clause applies only to the extent permitted by the consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction. It does not require you to indemnify us for losses caused by our own negligence or breach.

§14TERMINATION & ACCOUNT RESTRICTIONS
We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service if:
You violate these Terms, our Content Guidelines, or applicable law
We reasonably believe your use poses a security risk or legal liability
Required by a law enforcement or government request
Your payment is flagged as fraudulent by Stripe or our fraud detection systems
Effect on purchased lines: If your access is terminated due to a violation of these Terms, previously purchased and published lines may remain on the receipt or may be removed at our discretion. No refund is issued for lines associated with a terminated account where the termination was caused by your violation. If we remove lines for reasons unrelated to your conduct (e.g., a legal takedown request), we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.

§15CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

For material changes (changes to pricing, refund policy, content license, liability, or dispute resolution), we will post a prominent notice on the Site at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
If we have your email address and the changes materially affect your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email.
Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, your sole remedy is to stop using the Service.

§16SERVICE AVAILABILITY
We intend for the receipt and all published lines to remain available indefinitely. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or permanent availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
If we discontinue the Service: In the unlikely event that we permanently discontinue the Service, we will: (1) provide at least 90 days' notice via the Site and, where possible, by email; (2) make reasonable efforts to provide users a way to download or archive the receipt (including their line content); and (3) fulfill any outstanding donation obligations under §7 for the final operating period. No refunds are owed for previously delivered lines, as the digital product was delivered at the time of purchase.

§17FORCE MAJEURE
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism, pandemics, government actions, internet or infrastructure failures, power outages, or third-party service provider outages (including Stripe, Supabase, Vercel, or Cloudflare). We will make reasonable efforts to resume the Service as soon as practicable.

§18GENERAL PROVISIONS
Entire agreement — These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy (/privacy) and Content Guidelines (/guidelines), constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service, and supersede all prior agreements.
Severability — If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
