Every line on the receipt follows the same format. Here's what you can submit:
Quantity label
Max 6 characters (e.g., "1x", "99x", "∞x")
Item name
Max 40 characters (auto-uppercased)
Display price
Max 15 characters (cosmetic — not real)
Display name
Max 20 characters (optional)
Auto-formatting: Your item name and display price are automatically converted to UPPERCASE. Images are auto-cropped to a square and resized to a small thumbnail. What you see in the checkout preview is what appears on the receipt.

Self-deprecating humor, inside jokes, puns, pop culture references, absurd observations about modern life — all welcome. This is your one line. Make it count.

✕WHAT GETS REJECTED
We use automated screening (OpenAI Moderation API for text, AWS Rekognition for images) plus manual human review for edge cases. The following applies to all submitted fields — item name, quantity label, display price, and display name:
✕Hate speech — Slurs, dehumanizing language, or content targeting people based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin.
✕Harassment & doxxing — Content directed at specific individuals to threaten, bully, or intimidate. Includes sharing someone's personal information (name, address, phone, etc.) without consent.
✕Sexually explicit content — Pornographic text or images. Innuendo and double entendres are fine — explicit content is not.
✕Violence or self-harm — Content that promotes, glorifies, or encourages violence against others or self-harm.
✕Content involving minors — Any content that sexualizes, endangers, or is otherwise harmful toward minors.
✕Illegal activity — Content promoting drug trafficking, fraud, exploitation, or other illegal activities.
✕Spam or advertising — URLs, phone numbers, promotional content, QR codes (in images), or solicitations. The receipt is for jokes, not ads.
✕Impersonation — Falsely claiming to be, or using the display name of, a specific person, company, or organization without authorization.
✕Copyright infringement — Reproducing copyrighted material without authorization (song lyrics, book passages, etc.). If your content is reported via a DMCA takedown notice, it will be removed — see our Terms of Service (§6) for the full DMCA process.
✕Malicious content — References to malware, phishing URLs, exploit code, or anything designed to deceive or harm users.

~EDGE CASES
Some things aren't black and white. Here's how we think about the gray areas:
POLITICAL CONTENTUSUALLY OK
Humor about politics is fine if it's not hateful. "1x FUNCTIONING DEMOCRACY...$BACKORDERED" is great. Targeted hate toward any political group isn't.
BRAND NAMESUSUALLY OK
Mentioning brands humorously is fine. "1x IKEA FURNITURE W/O CRYING...IMPOSSIBLE" works. Defamatory claims about a brand don't.
RELIGIOUS REFERENCESUSUALLY OK
Lighthearted references to religion or spirituality are fine. "1x PRAYER ANSWERED...FINALLY" works. Mocking or demeaning any religion or religious group is not.
PROFANITYCASE BY CASE
Mild profanity may pass on a case-by-case basis. Heavy profanity and slurs are always rejected. The receipt is publicly visible to all ages.
SENSITIVE TOPICSCASE BY CASE
Humor about difficult topics (mental health, money, relationships) is part of the receipt's culture when done with self-awareness. "1x THERAPY SESSION #247...$200.00" is fine. Mocking others' suffering is not.
DRUG REFERENCESCASE BY CASE
Casual cultural references are generally fine. "1x GOOD VIBES ONLY...$4.20" works. Content that promotes or facilitates drug use doesn't.
CRYPTO & FINANCEUSUALLY OK
Financial humor is welcome. "1x BITCOIN AT THE TOP...$69,000" is fine. Actual investment advice, financial promotions, or scam references are not.
NON-ENGLISH CONTENTCASE BY CASE
We welcome content in any language. However, our automated moderation is optimized for English. Non-English submissions may be held for manual review, which can take longer. Content rules apply equally regardless of language.

🖼IMAGE RULES
If you buy an image line (starting at $1.99 — see pricing tiers in our Terms of Service), your uploaded image must also follow these rules:
PROHIBITED IMAGE CONTENT:
▸No sexually explicit or pornographic images, including nudity
▸No violent, graphic, or gory images
▸No hateful symbols or imagery (swastikas, Confederate flags used in a hateful context, etc.)
▸No identifiable photos of private individuals without their consent. Public figures in clearly humorous/transformative context may be permitted on a case-by-case basis.
▸No photos of minors (anyone under 18). This is strictly enforced.
▸No copyrighted imagesyou don't have rights to. Memes based on widely circulated templates are generally fine; using someone's original artwork or photography is not.
▸No AI-generated images of real, identifiable people (deepfakes). AI-generated art that doesn't depict real people is fine.
▸No QR codes, barcodes, or embedded links/text that redirect to external content
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
▸Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP
▸Max file size: 5 MB
▸Dimensions: Auto-cropped to a square (1:1) and resized to a small thumbnail. Choose images that read well at tiny sizes.

👤DISPLAY NAME RULES
Your optional display name (max 20 characters) is subject to the same content rules as your line text. Additionally:
▸Don't impersonate real people, brands, or organizations
▸Don't use slurs, hate speech, or offensive language as your name
▸Don't use a name to advertise or promote a product/service
Your display name appears alongside your line on the receipt and on your share card. If opted in, it's publicly visible. You can choose to remain anonymous — default is no name shown.

⚙HOW MODERATION WORKS
1.You write your line (and upload an image, if image tier) and submit
2.Text is automatically screened by our moderation system
3.Image (if any) is automatically screened for prohibited content
4.If everything passes → you proceed to payment via Stripe
5.After payment confirms → your line appears on the receipt
6.If flagged by automation → enters manual review queue (usually reviewed within a few hours)
7.If approved by reviewer → your line goes live
8.If rejected → you receive a full refund to your original payment method (5–10 business days)
Most lines are approved instantly.The 40-character limit and receipt format naturally discourage bad content. If you're wondering "will my line be okay?" — it probably will. If you're wondering "can I get away with this?" — it probably won't.

⚠POST-PUBLICATION REMOVAL
Even after your line is published on the receipt, we reserve the right to remove it if:
▸We later determine it violates these Content Guidelines
▸We receive a valid DMCA takedown notice (see Terms of Service §6)
▸We are required to remove it by law or legal process
▸We receive credible reports of harm (e.g., doxxing, harassment)
No refund for post-publication removal. If your line is removed after it was published, no refund is issued. Your line was delivered as purchased — removal is a consequence of a content violation or legal requirement. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email with the reason for removal. See our Terms of Service (§4) for full details.

?APPEALS
Think your line was incorrectly rejected? Here's the process:
1.Email [SUPPORT EMAIL] with your line number or purchase confirmation and explain why you think the rejection was incorrect.
2.A human will manually review your submission (if it was initially rejected by automation, this guarantees a human looks at it).
3.We'll respond within 48 hours with our decision and reasoning.
4.The human reviewer's decision is final.
If your content was rejected pre-publication, your refund is processed regardless of appeal outcome. If the appeal is successful, your line will be published and your refund reversed (or you may be asked to repurchase).

🚫REPEAT VIOLATIONS
We track moderation outcomes. If you repeatedly submit content that violates these guidelines:
▸First rejection: Full refund, no further action.
▸Second rejection: Full refund + a warning.
▸Third rejection: We may permanently restrict you from purchasing future lines. Previously published lines that comply with guidelines will remain on the receipt.
Attempting to circumvent moderation (e.g., using creative spellings to evade slur detection, encoding prohibited content in images) may result in an immediate ban without warning.

We moderate to keep the receipt fun, welcoming, and safe for everyone — not to censor creativity. When in doubt, we err on the side of approval.

↻CHANGES TO THESE GUIDELINES
We may update these Content Guidelines as the community grows and new edge cases emerge. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes (new categories of prohibited content, changes to the appeals or enforcement process) will be announced on the Site. Continued use of the Service after updates take effect constitutes acceptance.
